The dancer control – function and structure
The dancer control is a constant comparison of the position of the dancer. This dancer lies on the material to be wound and allows this material to sag at a certain point due to the dancer force.
The position of the dancer is constantly determined by a potentiometer and transmitted to the dancer control system for comparison in the control system. The maximum and minimum are determined beforehand by limit values and within these limits the control system must always keep the dancer. The height of the dancer is influenced by the feed and discharge velocity (V1 and V2) of the material. The material speed is controlled and adjusted or influenced on both sides by one motor each. However, a motor can also be used in conjunction with a potentiometer, in which case the potentiometer specifies the setpoint and the dancer control then intervenes at precisely this point. Depending on the position of the dancer, these motors are accelerated or decelerated by the dancer control to increase or decrease V1 or V2. This achieves an optimum winding speed and the desired force on the coil, and above all this tractive force is always the same on the entire coil.
Realize dancer control with inverter
To control the two motors of the material, a dancer control is often used. Within this control there are converters which change the speed of the motor and thus the material speed by means of an amplitude or frequency change. This type of dancer control is energy-saving and relatively easy to implement.
