Effective resistance

For an ohmic resistance or an effective resistance R it is insignificant whether it is connected to a direct current or an alternating current source. In both operating states it shows the same reaction. An electric current can flow through the resistor. If the voltage is changed, the electric current is altered at the same time. At any given time the ratio of voltage and electric current is the constant resistance value. The product of voltage and electric current is always positive independent of the voltage at the resistor. Electric power is transferred at the ohmic resistor. It warms up or a bulb emits energy in form of light.
