ST300 | Multiple Motors on One Frequency Inverter

The following rules must be observed when operating multiple motors on a single frequency inverter:
• The motors must have identical specifications (same design)
• The frequency inverter must be operated in U/f mode
• The maximum total cable length specified in the corresponding user manual must not be exceeded
• An output filter is recommended in all cases, which allows the maximum permissible motor cable length to be extended by 50%
• Each motor should be protected by its own thermal overload protection
• The inverter power rating should be selected based on the total motor current by summing the rated currents of all connected motors and choosing an inverter with sufficient output current capacity
• The motors must remain permanently connected to the inverter and must not be switched on or off individually while the inverter is actively operating
• The motor loads should be similar, as significant imbalance can lead to overcurrent errors; it is also recommended not to set acceleration and deceleration ramps too short and, if possible, to change the stop mode from the factory setting “active braking” to “free stop” using P01.08 = 1
