ST300 | Initial commissioning – What do I need to consider (motor data)?

Before commissioning a frequency inverter, the factory settings must be loaded via the menu. Afterwards, the rated motor data of the connected motor must be programmed into the frequency inverter. These motor data can be found on the respective nameplate of the motor.

Example of a nameplate for a three-phase asynchronous motor:

On the left side, you’ll find the rated voltage and rated current for the star connection (Y); on the right side, for the delta connection (Δ). Check the motor terminal box to see which connection is currently set, and change it if necessary to match the rated voltage of the frequency inverter.

The parameters required for entering the motor data can be found in parameter group P02. These include parameters P02.01 to P02.05 for asynchronous motors.

Rated power (P02.01): 0.75 kW

Rated frequency (P02.02): 50 Hz (for frequencies above 50 Hz, first set P00.03)

Rated speed (P02.03): 1385 rpm

Rated voltage (P02.04): 400V (star connection) / 230V (delta connection)

Rated current (P02.05): 2.30 A (star connection) / 3.98 A (delta connection)

All other parameters (P02.05 – P02.10) can also be determined automatically by the inverter through measurement. However, these are only required for vector control. For this, set P00.15 = 1 for a rotating measurement without load, or P00.15 = 2 for a stationary measurement with load. If possible, always perform a rotating measurement without load, as this allows the no-load current to be measured. After measurement, vector control can be activated using P00.00 = 0 or 1.
